A cancer and research institute sought to affiliate with one of the largest nonprofit health care systems to elevate cancer care and research across both organizations. The affiliation required a platform to manage physician practice and ambulatory operations and research opportunities across the network. To realize the true potential of the affiliation, a structure needed to be developed to access systems and enable support to effectively guide both organizations scope. Guiding principles were drafted to shape the affiliation focusing on high level cancer research, innovation, diagnostics, and technology across a range of cancers with focus on providing highly personalize care to patients.

The health system partnered with Saoirse Consulting given Saoirse Consulting’s proven expertise in M&A, project leadership and change management to lead the affiliation and bring together both organizations.

For successful integration, Saoirse Consulting conducted due diligence of organization to determine the steps necessary to achieve an integrated future state including quantification of the resulting cost impact. Saoirse Consulting shared findings and worked with physician, department, and hospital leaders to identify and define opportunities around a unified structure.

Upon completion of the affiliation agreements Saoirse Consulting led stakeholders in building out supporting clinical structure to drive ambulatory best practices and research structure.

Saoirse Consulting helped system and operational leaders to achieve an affiliation structure to enable both organizations the flexibility to leverage opportunities to better understand and tackle cancer and streamline in clinical operations. In addition, through the affiliation patients had access to the largest diagnostic technology, lab services and specialty referrals.
